During the 1999-2000 Rotary year, members of the Rotary Club of Navan wanted to develop a close association with another Rotary Club in Ireland. At one of their Council Meetings, they opened the Rotary Directory, and with the help of a map of Ireland, proceeded to search for the closest club which met on a Tuesday evening. That club was Banbridge, and after being contacted, a party of Banbridge Rotarians arrived in Navan - the Presidents at the time were James Carney (Navan) and Frank McQuaid (Banbridge).
Since that first meeting, the clubs have endeavoured, at the least, to reciprocate annual visits and also to attend significant celebrations like each club’s 25th Anniversary of Charter. The link remains strong.
